Well, it's a Monster Drawing Rally. So monsters are going to draw -

Artists are going to draw monsters?

No. Well, maybe.

Maybe you can explain since you know what's going on.

Happy to.

On Thursday, more than 50 artists are going to storm the IMA like it's a castle and put on a fundraiser for a new teen program that will launch in late 2015.

You definitely want to be there, because this will be the inaugural Monster Drawing Rally in Indy. The event started in San Francisco in 2000, has taken place for several years in Minneapolis, and will now be an annual event for the IMA.

The artists - whose ranks include Penelope Dullaghan, Jim Walker, Nathaniel Russell, Kevin Smola, Kate Oberreich, and Erin Hüber - will create art in one-hour shifts between 6-9 p.m. and complete as many drawings as they want during that time.

Oh, lovely! I dig murals and ...

Calm down. Most of the artwork will be 11" x 14".

That's probably better. I don't have anywhere to put a mural. So the work will be for sale?

Yes. The anticipated drawings, paintings, collages and mixed media work will sell on a first-come, first-serve basis for $35 each. The community event will kick off at 6 p.m. in the Pulliam Family Great Hall. It's free and a great chance to purchase original art at an affordable price, just in time for the holidays.
