Re: “The Top Three

I posted this comment on your wife's FB status first but I'll make it official.

OK. Obviously time is a factor, so I tried to think back to adolescence and early adulthood, as well as recent years to get a good representative list. It's about as scientific as I get:

This Year's Model – Elvis Costello

Most of EC's early catalog got me through the depression, anxiety and bewilderment of my early college years but I played this one to death. With songs like "I Don't Want to go to Chelsea," "Lipstick Vogue" and "Little Triggers," I was hooked.

Living in the U.S.A – Linda Ronstadt

My mom had this on vinyl, which she bought in 1978. Once I got old enough to care about music, I would put the record on whenever I felt like singing (though nowhere near as well as Linda). This one for me is as much about nostalgia as it is the fact that her voice, the band backing her up and the song choices are fabulous. And if that's not enough, she wore the best roller skating outfit on the cover.

Steal this Album – The Coup

It's just brilliant hip-hop.
