Re: “Indiana LOVE

Isamu Noguchi did not grow up in Indiana, as you would have it. He only spent his last teen years in Indiana. "In 1918, Noguchi was sent back to the U.S. for schooling in Rolling Prairie, Indiana. After graduation, he left with Dr. Edward Rumely to LaPorte, where he found boarding with a Swedenborgian pastor, Samuel Mack. Noguchi began attending La Porte High School, graduating in 1922. During this period of his life, he was known by the name "Sam Gilmour.""--Wikipedia

Re: “Will Cooler Heads Prevail?

Flat roofs look clean on paper, but in reality they leak. FLW joked about his 2-bucket houses and Phillip Johnson said his was a 4-bucket. If the Mills house is repaired by a new owner, would it have to retain the flat roof? The flat roof is the likely source of the deterioration! As a historic house, it has to be kept in it's original form. But that form, namely the roof, is doomed to leak and deteriorate. It's interesting to note that contemporary architectural guidelines would not allow building with a flat roof. For good reason. It's a catch 22, isn't it.
