Re: “Ballet Basics

Brava! It is wonderful to see the ballet world in Indianapolis coming together to break down the walls that separate the "ballet people" from the "non-ballet people". With 65 dance schools in Indianapolis alone, there is still clearly an interest and tradition in the artform here. As Indianapolis City Ballet continues to grow as the area's professional company presenting some of the ballet's most accomplished dancers and commissioning new works, we are always searching for ways to entice people to give ballet a chance.

On May 30, WFYI-1 Public Television, in partnership with Indianapolis City Ballet, will broadcast the first of a series of programs that took place here in Indianapolis over the past five years. Called "A Perfect Balance" the film lets you meet some of these premier dancers and see a range of performance styles discussed here, from the classical story ballet Le Corsaire and bravura Diana and Acteon to several contemporary works with humor, passion, sensitivity and sizzle.

So give Ballet a Chance! And thank you Shelby (and Sky Blue Window)!
