See The Black Pirate in the Grand Hall at Indiana Landmarks Center, with spooky live organ accompaniment and adult beverages. Filmed in early Technicolor in 1926, The Black Pirate stars Douglas Fairbanks as a young man seeking revenge by joining the pirate band responsible for his father's death. Some consider Fairbanks to be the first action movie star, and in The Black Pirate he demonstrates his athletic ability in a number of precarious stunt sequences. For laughs, there's a silent 1925 comedy short, “Doctor Pyckle and Mr. Pride” starring Stan Laurel, and the 1923 vintage Felix the Cat cartoon, “Felix, the Ghost Breaker." Silent Halloween features special lighting effects and haunting accompaniment on the 1892 Sanborn organ by organist Mark Herman. Herman is a winner of the American Theatre Organ Society’s Young Organist Competition and has performed in venues throughout the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Door prizes will be given out throughout the evening, and guests are encouraged to dress in costume. We'll award a prize for the best pirate costume! Cash bar.
