Fountain Fest Fundraiser

Throughout the world, beautifully ornate fountains adorn landscapes, serving as points of wonder and tourist attractions wherever they dwell--from the Trevi Fountain in Rome to the Samson Fountain at Peterhof Palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and the 100-year-old Sunken Garden fountains at Indy's own Garfield Park. As a focal point of one of Central Indiana's only European-style gardens, these historic structures require tens of thousands of dollars in maintenance each year, so the Friends of Garfield Park will hold their first annual Fountain Fest to help raise funds to sustain these aging pieces of masterfully crafted architecture.

On Saturday 3-7:30 p.m. at the Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Garden, the celebration will take place, featuring food trucks, local beer and live music from Indianapolis jazz extraordinaire Cathy Morris, '60s cover band Free But Not Cheap and '70s classic rock cover band the Filter Kings. "This event will help support efforts to raise monies for the ongoing maintenance of this 'jewel' in our midst, while bringing together people from all over the city to enjoy music, food and fun for the whole family," says Fountain Fest co-chair Linda Simmons. For more information on the festivities, be sure and visit the FOGP website.
