Re: “Why I’m staying

I agree, but it is tough feeling like you're fighting a battle for something that's a given in other places. And if I lived there I could be growing and pushing to exciting new places, instead of simply wasting my time trying to do something like get people basic human rights.

Re: “A Fee Too Far?

I appreciate the evaluation. But since we're focused on money, you've picked your context. The Louvre in Paris-a must-visit for any tourist in the city of lights, is only about $12. The Smithsonian museums, the largest collection in the world, is completely free and open. (also a must-visit for any trip to DC. see the moon lander and incredible art and cultural artifacts!)

Even your analysis of similar major metopolian museums is flawed- what is the median income of a 20 mile radius of the NYC museum of art? That is, what percentage of the average employee's paycheck does it cost to get into the museum? the percentage for indy residents by my math is at least 3x.

I'm all for whatever it takes to keep the place solvent, but I wish they'd adopted an innovative model. It seems as though the cost was adopted using a popular method of starting with the membership cost, and working backward from there.

I, for instance, would like to to make every membership bake the basic membership +1 and +2 for families. I regularly took guests to the city to the art museum to show it off. and no, I won't do that any more. I'm no less proud of the facility I was before the announcement, but I'm going to take people to experience it anymore.
