You’re On!

Videography by Kyle Travers

Future actors and actresses from Indiana are performing now on stages around the city. The curtains open on summer stock musicals as a culmination of intense weeks of theater workshops, camps and rehearsals come to a close for young ones bitten by the theater bug. Whether they be middle school extras with stage presence and "seasoned ninth graders" with IRT experience or high schoolers who love to "live someone else's life" through acting -- summer stock pairs professional artists with aspiring young talent.

For a peek into that world, our partners at WFYI discovered how some of the best of the best young actors age 13 to 19 from 37 high schools around central Indiana join together for a Summer Stock Stage performance of The King And I. Summer Stock Stage is a not-for-profit organization that provides free training in the performing arts for theater-enthused teens. The King and I can be seen at Ayres Auditorium on the Park Tudor campus today through Sunday (July 24-27).
