A Wrinkle in Time

Anastasia Pottinger, a Missouri-based photographer, typically focuses her camera on fine art children's portraiture and birth photography, which play to her background and work experience in early childhood education. But her series of black-and-white photographs entitled Centenarians opens the lens to an entirely different perspective -- and age -- of models.

Pottinger captures fascinating views of nude subjects aged 100 years and older, beautifully revealing skin stretched, sagging and mottled by time, curved backs sculpted through years of usage, and frail feet and little limbs responsible for a century of steps taken.

The poignant pics offer a peek into the future of our own bodies and a reverent reminder of loved ones passed. For a look at Centenarians and her other works, visit Pottinger's website [ED: website contains nudity].

The human body continues to be an inspiration for artists and further illustrates that beauty is ageless. - ANASTASIA POTTINGER
