A UniverSoul Appeal

Before the UniverSoul Circus enters the ring next week at Lafayette Square Mall, the world-renowned, culturally embracive spectacle will take its talent to the streets with a special goal. Its hopes to promote peace amidst an aching city marred by recent acts of gun violence. Transforming Washington Park with its multicultural, multinational big-top magic, the distinctive group of performers looks to bring Indianapolis together on Sunday, empowering neighborhoods through a vibrant demonstration of unity.

Upon learning of a double homicide in the Brightwood neighborhood that occurred this past May, UniverSoul CEO and founder Cedric Walker, who looks to make a difference in each of the Circus' tour stops, decided to coordinate a demonstration. The group will team up with The City of Indianapolis and several other community partners for The Your Life Matters, Peace in the Streets Parade Walk and Rally, which will take place 3 - 6 p.m. Sunday, with the parade walk beginning at Brightwood Community Center. As community members head toward Washington Park in this parade for peace, a special tribute will be made to homicide victim Julia Morrow's family.

In addition to this event, the UniverSoul Circus (now celebrating its 20th anniversary) will perform from July 15 to 20. For more information, be sure to visit its website.
